STATE HIGHWAY 16 IMPROVEMENTS AT BEACON LIGHT
As part of the Traffic Mitigation Agreement between Idaho Transportation Department As part of the Traffic Mitigation Agreement between Idaho Transportation Department and Valnova, the Valnova development team has begun construction for the required State Highway 16 (SH-16) and Beacon Light improvements which include:
- Widening SH-16 at Beacon Light intersection
- Adding a deceleration lane and turn pocket for both North and South bound traffic on SH-16 to increase safety and improve the flow of traffic
- Adding acceleration lanes on SH-16 North and South bound lanes to allow cars to get up to speed and merge onto SH-16
- Adding crosswalks with pedestrian ramps across SH-16 and Beacon Light Road to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility.
Construction work will be completed during the day with some night work to mitigate against impacts to traffic flow, with construction occurring on one half of Highway 16 (West side then East side) at a time. While there may be temporary reduced traffic flows to one lane, at least one lane in each direction will remain open at all times.
Current anticipated construction timelines include:
- West side paving will be between September 9th– 12th.
- East side traffic control work anticipated to begin on September 18th. Concrete barriers anticipated to be installed between September 23-24 (night work).
- Construction completion anticipated by the end of November 2025.
